For the Aristarchus Web site, which includes tools for researching and teaching in the subject areas of the Greek and Latin ancient worlds. The main objective of the project is to generate interest in Ancient Greek lexicography, literature and erudition in the international scientific community as well as in students and other interested people. The Aristarchus project includes: 1) LGGA (The Lexicon of Ancient Greek Grammarians), an online lexicon of ancient Greek scholars and philologists that is particularly designed for the study of the history of ancient philology, grammar and scholarship. The content consists of files — alphabetically ordered by Latin name — of the personalities who contributed to erudite and philological-grammatical research in the ancient world. The LGGA project includes completing the catalog of Ancient Philology as well as publishing the entire repertory online (including the original works), creating a basic index card for grammarians, continuously updating the existing index cards and adding Greek texts that are not yet included. 2) The PAWAG (Poorly Attested Words in Ancient Greek) project will create a database that can be increased and updated to reflect corrections and improvements concerning the entries in the greatest dictionaries of Ancient Greek. The project gathers together lexicographic material that is unlikely to find proper space in the traditional lexica. 3) The third project, MEDIACLASSICA, is a Web site containing didactics of the ancient Greek and Latin languages. The site is a tool for teaching and learning Greek and Latin. Its goal is to provide teachers and students with useful content that is continually added to and updated. The site will feature seminars, detailed examination of its subject matter and suggestions for experimental teaching, as well as traditional lections, exercises and tests. Founded in 1471, the state-supported Universita degli Studi di Genova is one of the largest universities in Italy. It currently hosts 40,000 students. The Dipartimento di Archeologia e Filologia Classica, founded in 1984, is one of five departments of the Faculty of Literature, Arts and Philosophy. The department has three divisions: Greek Studies, Language and Literature, and Archaeology. The primary activities of the department are teaching and scientific research.
