This grant supports a two-year pilot project to deliver multi-sensory, specialist story-telling sessions to children with learning disabilities, in order to improve children’s early literacy skills and to equip parents with the ability to use story-related play techniques and reading time to ensure that their children benefit from an enabling home environment. The program also aims to improve early detection of disability and will explore inclusive storytelling techniques for libraries and community venues paired with learning disability awareness training.
