This grant supports a scientific expedition to document the fauna and flora, both marine and non-marine, of Espiritu Santo, a large and rugged island in the Republic of Vanuatua in the South Pacific; the team aims to conduct a biodiversity survey that covers all the major environments of the island, including the deep sea, reefs, caves, freshwater bodies of water, mountains, and forest canopies.
