Α) CHALLENGE

A few words about the Challenge: The historic Spyros Louis Cup, presented to the winner of the first Olympic marathon at the inaugural modern Olympic Games, which was inspired and designed by Michel Bréal and acquired in an auction by the SNF with the goal of making it freely accessible to the public by putting it on display at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), will travel to one of the world’s most prominent museums this year. From April 24th to September 16th, 2024, the Cup will be at the Louvre Museum in Paris as one of the centerpieces of the upcoming temporary exhibition “Olympism: Modern Invention, Ancient Legacy”, organized in collaboration with the Ecole Française d' Athènes to coincide with the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In the context of the Challenge, participants are invited to symbolically follow the Cup and become part of the collective effort to cover the distance of 2,452 kilometers from the SNFCC in Athens to the Louvre Museum in Paris.

How to participate: By signing up or signing in the Strava application, which records the fitness performance of the users with GPS data technology, participants are invited, for as long as the Challenge is active, to cumulatively cover 5 kilometers each by running, walking, hiking, and/or wheel chairing, in order to collectively cover the symbolic distance of 2,452 kilometers. Given the symbolic nature of the distance, it is noted that participation in the Challenge is still possible even after the distance of 2,452 kilometers has been covered, provided that the Challenge is still active. Participants who complete the Challenge by covering the 5 kilometers will receive a push notification and an email asking them to fill in the personal information required to enter the draw for the selection of the Challenge winner (section B below).

Challenge term: The Challenge opens on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at 00:01 and closes on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at 23:59.

Participation criteria: Residents of Greece aged 18 or over who have registered for the Challenge through the Strava application are eligible to participate. Each participant can participate only once in the Challenge and thus in the draw. In case of multiple entries by the same participants through different accounts, only the first of them in time will be taken into account and the other subsequent entries will be considered invalid.

Non-eligible to participate in the Challenge and excluded are those associated with any professional relationship with the SNF and the related to SNF non-profit organizations (iMEdD, Regeneration & Progress, Vamvakou Revival) as well as the spouses and first-degree relatives of the aforementioned persons. Any participation of the above persons in the Challenge in violation of this condition will be automatically considered invalid.

The SNF reserves the right to verify at any time and by any appropriate means all entries, requesting, indicatively, identity and address details and to refuse to award the prize or refuse further participation/exclude from the Challenge when there are reasonable grounds to believe that there has been a breach of the present Terms and Conditions.

The SNF at its discretion may additionally disqualify any participant from the Challenge if they post or display any comments that are defamatory, obscene, infringing the copyright or other rights of third parties that contain any illegal content.

B) LOTTERY – SELECTION OF THE WINNER

The Challenge winner will be drawn by lottery that will be held by SNF on Monday, April 15th, 2024, at 12:00, through the certified application www.random.org. The lottery will be held regardless of whether the 2,452 kilometers distance has been covered.

All participants who have completed 5 kilometers during the Challenge and meet the criteria for participation in the Challenge will be included in the draw.

The winner and two runners-up will be drawn. The winner will be notified on the same day by email from the SNF and should accept the prize in writing by replying to the SNF email by April 22nd, 2024. If the winner does not accept the prize or the above deadline is missed, the SNF will notify the first runner-up following the same procedure. The first runner-up should accept the prize in writing by replying to the SNF email by April 29th, 2024. If the first runner-up does not accept the prize or the above deadline is missed, the SNF will notify the second runner-up following the same procedure. The second runner-up should accept the prize in writing by replying to the SNF email by May 8th, 2024. If the second runner-up does not accept the prize or the above deadline is missed, the Challenge will be considered completed without the selection of a winner and any obligation of SNF ceases to exist.
