The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is a public space for everyone, not just those who happen to live nearby. Through the “Travel to the SNFCC” program designed and implemented by the Friends & Patrons of the SNFCC, young people from every corner of Greece have a chance to explore the SNFCC and sample the variety of cultural, educational, athletic, environmental, and recreational activities and events it offers.
At the beginning of May, 34 students from the Music School of Mytilene on Lesvos and 33 students from the General School of Deskatis Grevenon in Northern Greece travelled to Athens to visit the SNFCC through the program.
Both groups toured the SNFCC, the National Library of Greece, and the Greek National Opera; saw the temporary art installation Return to Sender; and learned all about this year’s SNF Nostos. The students from the Music School of Mytilene attended the by Luigi Cherubini opera Medea in Stavros Niarchos Hall while the students from the General School of Deskatis Grevenon saw the play Stories to Keep You Awake at Night at the National Theater of Greece.
During their visits, we had the pleasure of walking and talking together, exchanging perspectives, and hearing the young people’s ideas about the SNFCC and its activities.
The visits took place with the support of Athens International Airport.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is the founding donor of the Friends & Patrons of the SNFCC.
