SNF Partners Reflect on the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks
In an event livestreamed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, family members of victims will gather on Memorial plaza at the site of the World Trade Center to read aloud their names. After dark, “Tribute in Light,” which consists of two beams of light reaching up four miles into the night sky, will commemorate the anniversary. Year-round, the museum, of which the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is a founding donor, invites visitors to learn about the history of the attacks through a collection of poignant objects, exhibitions bringing to light important stories, and public events for a variety of audiences.
A livestreamed performance of Table of Silence Project 9/11 by Lincoln Center and Buglisi Dance Theatre, together with Dance/NYC, will also mark the day and provide an opportunity for reflection. The performance takes place as part of Restart Stages, a component of the SNF-LC Agora Initiative.
Two decades after Lower Manhattan was devastated by the attack, alongside the somber memorial, new life continues to grow through vibrant public spaces like the Perelman Performing Arts Center.
