Hear a gripping global take on ancient Greece, from warfare to gender to art

Bestselling author and Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Director of the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research Peter Frankopan will deepen and nuance our understanding of the relationship between ancient Greece and the wider world in an upcoming livestreamed talk, the first in a series of three. The lectures will touch on themes including, warfare, gender, inequality, climate change, and pandemic.
Greece: Beginnings will take place Thursday, October 7 in Athens and will be streamed live at 12 p.m. ET. The series, which seeks to reexamine Greece in the context of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, will continue with two more talks in March and May 2022.
The lecture is organized by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, where SNF has supported the advancement of scholarship in classics.
