Barça Foundation Reports on Impact of Expansion of FutbolNet Program

Nov 14, 2018
On Wednesday, November 14th, representatives from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) joined the Barça Foundation in Barcelona as they presented the results of the FutbolNet program for refugee children in Greece and announce the program’s next step.

The FutbolNet methodology, developed by the Barça Foundation in 2011, uses the game of soccer and other sport activities to give young people a chance to exercise agency, take responsibility, include others, and collectively reflect on all of it. With support from SNF, the FutbolNet program was expanded in 2017 to include populations in Greece, Lebanon, and Italy with the aim of bringing together refugee and local children on the playing field. In October 2018, at FC Barcelona’s General Assembly, SNF Co-President, Andreas Dracopoulos through a message announced the renewal of SNF’s support for the program for an additional three years.

We live in very challenging times and the luckier, the more successful, the more affluent, the more we have a responsibility to collaborate for the common good. It is in this spirit of collaborating for the common good that we are very happy to have established this partnership with Barça Foundation over the last few years,” said Mr. Dracopoulos.
