Τhe SNF announces new cycle of grants totaling more than $37 Million
The 111 new grants are part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s international philanthropic activity and are aligned with the Foundation’s overall philosophy to support initiatives that can offer immediate assistance to citizens most in need, have the potential to bring about tangible changes and contribute to the long-term development of communities and their members.
Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, stated: “Through its latest grants’ cycle, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation aims to provide substantial support to programs and organizations, which—regardless of the sector in which they operate—revolve around one common ground: they address the growing challenges that modern societies are called upon to face, as a whole. Our principal goal was—and still is—to support initiatives that will contribute to social development, both in Greece that is currently striving, as well as in the rest of the world, while creating the prerequisites for a better future for the generations to come”.
The 111 new grants relate to the Foundation’s four basic program areas: Arts and Culture, Education, Health and Sports, and Social Welfare. The new grants are in line with the regular grant making activity of the SNF. A number of these grants are part of the 2nd cycle of the Initiative Against the Greek Crisis, and the Recharging the Youth program, which, respectfully, aim help to alleviate the severe consequences of the socio-economic crisis in Greece, and create opportunities for future generations.
