The Foundation has acted on its announced commitment by approving, in the Spring meeting of its Board of Directors, some of the largest grant-making initiatives.
In the message by the Foundation’s Directors, included in our recent News and Grants publication, it is mentioned that philanthropy and foundations exist for times like this. Periods of extraordinary turmoil are, at the same time, periods of great opportunity to respond and to try to have a meaningful impact. At the beginning of the year, the Foundation reiterated its commitment to continue supporting various causes and projects in Greece, not only by means of maintaining its grant-making initiatives in the country, but also by means of expanding them significantly.
Since philanthropy must not merely be talked about but should be actively demonstrated as well, the Foundation has acted on its announced commitment by approving, in the Spring meeting of its Board of Directors, some of the largest grant-making initiatives in the areas of Health & Medicine and Social Welfare undertaken in the country. The Pediatric Intensive Care Units’ Renovation Program will complete the renovation of all Pediatric ICUs across Greece, and will also include the establishment of a new unit at the University General Hospital of Larissa. At the same time, the Foster Care Institution Support Program will provide significant and critical support for nineteen (19) foster care institutions throughout Greece.
