New horizons for artists in Greece through the ARTWORKS program

Apr 10, 2025
ARTWORKS, as its name suggests, seeks to strengthen the present practice and future opportunities of creators in Greece.

After years of supporting visual artists, filmmakers, dancers, and art curators, it’s expanding its purview in a number of new directions.

The five new axes cover a wide range of activities: promoting international partnerships through ARTWORKS Connects, supporting artistic production through ARTWORKS Funds, creating strong cultural links through ARTWORKS Partners, and advancing new perspectives in art through ARTWORKS Preserves and ARTWORKS Reads. Through its new offerings, ARTWORKS is supporting contemporary artistic production within and beyond Greece’s borders; encouraging artists, curators, and writers through commissions; and expanding its network of collaborations with cultural institutions.

With support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) from the very beginning, ARTWORKS has created a dynamic community of artists and has financially supported 390 individuals through the SNF Artists Fellowship Program. The newly expanded program, of which SNF remains the main supporter, aims to provide greater support to artists in Greece through tools that allow for international visibility and access to financial resources and collaboration opportunities.
