The program offers participants opportunities to stay active, stay in shape, and stay social. Kids who take part learn the value of teamwork and the spirit of sportsmanship under the guidance of experts who impart the value of regular exercise.
For 10 years now, more than 9,000 children ages 5 to 12 and over 270 adults have taken part in Sports Paths. Since the start of the project, more than 500 of our people—teachers, physical education teachers, chess players, and theater practitioners—have joined the team to travel to 27 remote islands in service of the program.
Thanks to the valuable contributions of partners from the nonprofit journalism organization iMΕdD, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), and Deree College, the Sports Paths program offers a variety of activities, including dance, art, and gardening, to local residents. The program also builds skills through workshops in creative writing, career guidance, and internet safety, this last delivered by a team of experts from the Hellenic Police.
Guided by what brings participants joy and what brings them back for more, the Sport Paths program was established in 2015. It is implemented by Sports Excellence | Department of Sports Excellence and the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with an exclusive grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
