The award honored the architectural team of Giorgos Parmenidis, Christine Longuepée, and Iphigenia Mari, which carried out the initial study and supervision of the museum design process for the National Gallery. The design team has had extensive experience on more than 50 similar projects and the construction of exhibitions and exhibition spaces.
All of us at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) congratulate the museum for earning this distinction. We are proud to have contributed to the building’s completion and expansion, including the creation of the new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Wing, where the exhibition experience is designed as a walk through an open space. The new design of the Greek National Gallery, which is integrated into the urban fabric of Athens, immediately put it in the same class as its major European peers and soon made it a city landmark.
The A’ Design Award is an international design award, established for the international recognition and promotion of good design in the fields of industrial design, art, and architecture.
